Review

The Weber Spirit E-210 is an entry-level gas grill designed for the sub-$500 market. It is a premium model, however, and its price sits well above what a similar grill from less-known models would be. The reason for that is mainly due to its high-end engineering for maximum performance as well as it’s sleek, modern touch.

The E-210 comes with two burners while the E-310 has 3, but the difference is practically negligible. The former outputs 26,500 BTUs of heat an hour compared to 30,000 BTUs for the 3-burner unit.

The Spirit E-210 is also a slightly smaller unit than the Weber Genesis. it features 450 sq. inches of cooking surface divided into 360 sq. in for the primary cooking area and 90 sq. in for the warming rack.

The rest of the Weber Spirit E-210 is all geared towards high performance barbeque performance. From the porcelain-enameled cast-iron grates to the included flavorizer bars, side racks, and cast aluminum painted, and enameled cookbox lid, everything is meant to help you get the blue-ribbon grill (even if it’s just for the family or your crowd.)

Overall Performance

Weber Spirit E-210 ReviewIf you’re thinking of the quality of grilling, the Weber E-210 absolutely exceeds expectations. It’s something to do with its even heating, ensuring no cold or hot spots. The flavorizer bars also help to divert grease away from the burners, thus minimizing flare-ups and infusing whatever you’re grilling with the flavor of vaporized grease.

If it’s about cooking times, this grill is preheated and ready in 15 minutes. This model lacks a searing station – that’s something you might want to look for in the more expensive Genesis models. Once hot, though, it cooks pretty fast and evenly.

The latest models of the Spirit E-210 are even compatible with the iGrill Bluetooth thermometer. This wireless tool is fantastic for whoever who likes precision barbequing and getting that brisket, fish, or anything else cooked to perfection.

Cooking Area

The Weber E-210 is an entry-level gas grill, which means it is designed to be compact. It has a 360 sq. in primary cooking area and 90 sq. in additional warming surface to help keep your food nice and warm. The primary cooking surface is large enough to grill 17 burgers simultaneously, for large enough for a family of five including meat and vegetables.

The E-210 also has two side racks to hold your condiments and tools. This grill is perfect for family barbeques, camping, and tailgating so long as you don’t mind hauling its 100 pounds (excluding the propane tank) to and fro.

Burners

Weber Spirit E-210 ReviewThe Weber Spirit E-210 has two burners made of sturdy stainless steel. These burners connect from the back to the front and has individual control knobs, which makes it perfect for indirect grilling or 2-zone cooking. This is Weber’s unique new GS$ Grilling System that is also found on the other Spirit and Genesis models.

BTUs

The smaller 2-burner Weber Spirit E-210 is capable of 26,500 BTUs. This is more than enough to get it to searing temperatures of over 500F (with the shroud down) and consistent ambient temperatures of >400F. The slightly larger E-310 model with three grills outputs 30,000 BTUs, but there is no noticeable difference in performance.

Fuel Source and Ignition Type

The Weber Spirit E-210 is a propane gas grill designed for the 20-pound propane tank. It is unique because the tank is supposed to be mounted on a hook to the side, and this hook is actually a fuel gauge. It measures the weight of the remaining propane and lets you know when your tank is almost empty, which is very convenient.

The Spirit E-210 also features a unique ignition system that Weber creatively calls the Infinity Ignition. All it means is that the grill will ignite on one push of the button, every time, with no hassle.
The ignition system is battery powered, so you will need to replace the AA battery now and then.

Cooking Grates

There is one unique upgrade to the Weber Spirit E-210’s grill that few people realize. it has V-shaped bars, which means that you can lay your food on the wider or narrower surface as you please. The wider surface is great for steaks and other seared foods, while the narrow side is perfect for foods that require low to moderate temperatures.

The porcelain-enameled grill grates are made of heavy cast-iron, which means they have stellar heat distribution and searing abilities. They also do not require seasoning since the porcelain surface is naturally non-stick and corrosion resistant.

Ease of Use

Weber Spirit E-210 ReviewGrilling doesn’t get easier than gas grills. Thanks to the Inifinity Ignition system, getting the grill ready is as easy as pressing a button. Replacing the propane tank, ignition battery, and cleaning the grill are all similarly simple and easy to do.

Safety Features

Weber relies on the best engineering to manufacture its gas grills, so safety is assured. To start with, it comes with the minimal safety features required by law including:

  • A gas flow limiter in case of a leak or rupture of the gas pipe
  • Multiple shut-off mechanisms
  • A device to stop gas flow if any part of the system between the tank and burners is leaking

Even with these safety features, a gas grill is still an open flame. You should never use it indoors or near your house, and multi-family residences such as condos prohibit them anyway. Don’t use it in a garage, porn, carport, or breezeway as well. Follow all LPG handling safety rules including shutoff, transportation, non-smoking, and keeping children away at all times.

Portability

As the smallest of the Weber Spirit grills, the E-210 is the perfect grill to take with you when camping or tailgating. It measures 32” X 50” x 63” and weighs 103 pounds. This is not exactly small or light, but it is perfect for a grill. However, remember that you will also tag along your 20-pound propane tank as well.

Warranty

Like all other Weber grills, the Spirit E-210 comes with an excellent 10-year warranty. All parts are covered by this limited warranty which excludes normal wear and tear. This is especially important, as the flavorizer bars seem to start rusting and falling apart after a year or two of use.

Ease of Maintenance

Weber Spirit E-210 ReviewThe Weber Spirit E-210 is a relatively straight-forward grill to take care of. It requires regular cleaning and checking after a season of storage, which is made easier by its construction. The enameled grates do not collect grease and other food remains easily, so simply scraping them off works. The grease catch pan is also removable to make it easier to empty.

When you want to do a thorough cleaning of your Weber Spirit gas grill, you can take off all the major components such as the burners and flavorizer bars as shown in the user manual. Then you can pressure-wash the rest of it, being careful not to erode away any powder paint.

Available Colors

The shroud of the Weber Spirit E-210 is available in different colors if you’re looking to personalize your grill. These are black, ivory, sapphire, and red. It is one of the first entry-level grills to have this option, so be sure to choose which one you like best.

Price

Two-burner grills cost anywhere from $150 to $600, and the Weber Spirit E-210 is on the higher end of that. Weber is a family name that has cultivated a reputation for excellence over decades, and the quality of this model definitely justifies the steep price.

Key Features

  • 450 sq. inches cooking area, with a primary area of 360 sq. in and a warming rack measuring 90 sq. in.
  • side tables with one folding downwards to save on space
  • Two stainless steel burners output 26,500 BTUs.
  • Porcelain-enameled, V-shaped grill grates made of solid cast iron
  • Cast aluminum body and shroud (the latter is also enameled with aluminum)
  • Battery-powered Infinity Ignition system
  • Flavorizer bars to divert the flow of dripping grease and oil
  • Removable grease catch pan
PROS CONS
  • Solid construction, ensuring perfect heat distribution throughout the grill.
  • It has a primary cooking surface and a warming area despite its modest proportions.
  • Folding side table on the left to help save on space during storage or transport.
  • It comes with its own propane valve.
  • The Weber Spirit E-210 is compatible with the iGrill smart thermostat.
  • Very rugged and durable. It comes with a 10-year warranty as proof.
  • It is very easy and safe to use.
  • The Spirit E-210 is slightly smaller than the Genesis models, so it may not be best for entertaining large groups.
  • The propane tank is supposed to hang in full view, which otherwise detracts from the sleep and modern finish of the whole things.
  • This is not the most sturdy grill from Weber, especially compared to the bigger ones. It’s bound to wobble sometime.

Conclusion

If you want to really invest in a gas grill, start with the Weber Spirit E-210. The compact 2-burner grill is perfect for small families and small parties, and its so easy and painless to use it’s almost like an electric version.
